Today the official announcement of the “L-Mount” alliance took place in Cologne during the pre-photokina press conferences. The alliance is about a lens/camera interface called „L-Mount“ which keeps lenses and cameras from all three companies compatible and exchangeable.
Leica was able to get two big global players from Japan to join their L-mount (lens mount). The little company from Wetzlar sets an industry standard in the international camera industry. Two major players follow their standard – how cool is that?
For me that is impressive and I see a great chance for the alliance to stand together against the three of the camera industry. Knowing all of the three teams personally – I wish everyone great success with their upcoming businesses and I hope to see great products for the L-mount very soon.
Personally for me, it was a great journey being part of the L-mount team and it makes me proud to see the announcement of today.
From a pure customer perspective I personally find the L-mount the best opportunity to choose from products of an excellent mix of expertise to full fill every need for photo, video and cine applications.
